It is important to
remember that an ``information system'' is simply a system that deals with
the collection, storage, organization, retrieval and analysis of
information. This means information systems have been in place long before
computers were invented.
It is true that most information systems that people mention today use
computers. But this does not mean that we should make that assumption
immediately. There are still plenty of businesses and organizations that
do not utilize computers to handle information.
