Although software can configure each individual pin, the AVR
MCUs provides interfaces to configure 8 pins at the same time.
A ``port'' is a group of 8 pins, and software can configure
all 8 pins in a port in one operation.
It is conventional with AVR MCUs to refer to the ports as
port A, port B and etc. The ATMega128 has port A to port G
available, while some of the smaller MCUs only have one or
two ports.
