This chapter introduces various file systems that work with Windows XP, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type. This chapter also introduces basic file operations like creation, modification and deletion.
After completing this chapter, a student will be able to identify the various responsibilities of an operating system, understand the file system, compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each type of file system. A student will also be able to perform simple file operations via the GUI (graphical user interface).
