Although NTFS is superior to FAT32 in almost every way, NTFS is
not easily accessible in non-NT operating systems, including
Microsoft's own Windows 9x/me. As a result, if a partition needs
to be accessed by a non-NT operating system, it should use
FAT32 and not NTFS. Examples include partitions on USB flash
drives and most portable drives.
Note that for maximum protection both in terms of security and
reliability, NTFS should be used.
