1.1.3.3 Buttons

Most point devices include at least two buttons. These two buttons are called ``left button'' and ``right button''. In most context, a ``left button'' is simply called a ``button''.

The left button of a pointing device is usually used to select an object, while the right button is often used to select an object, and display what can be done with the object.

Pressing and releasing a button is called ``clicking''. Two clicks separated by a short amount of time is called a ``double click''. Often, a single click is used to select an object, while a double click is used to ``open'' an object. Double clicking is almost always done with the left button.
